Star Wars Companion Short "Black Angel" To Be Made Into A Full Length Feature

35 years ago, a short film accompanied "The Empire Strikes Back" & was screened before the movie started. Shortly after, the footage was lost...and then found 35 years later. That short film was called Black Angel.

What does this have to do with Star Wars you say?

Black Angel was a short film made on a budget of £25,000 (roughly $38,000 US in today's economy) which was commissioned by George Lucas. It was made by Roger Christian, who won an Oscar for his design work on "A New Hope" which also included the design of the 3 lightsabers seen in the movie.

As a feature length film, the budget is still a drop in the bucket compared to the production cost of even some low budget films. An Indiegogo 45 day crowdfunding page was created in the hopes of raising the £66,000 (just over $100,000 US) to make the film.  Day one is not even over and they have already collected just under $31,000 US.

UPDATE: The Crowdfunding goal of £66,000 is mainly to allow contributors perks such as memorabilia, roles as extras, and the chance to win a 2 frame negative from A New Hope. The entire production is being backed by London based Carnaby International, with a total budget of £9,850,800 ($15,000,000 US).

Roger Christian plans to go back to Scotland for this project, citing that Scotland is an integral part of the story. Rutger Hauer has also been attached to the film, although his role has yet to be revealed.

UPDATE: John Rhys-Davies has also been confirmed as being attached to the film.
