Star Wars Battlefront Expectations & Updates

EA Games has announced that they expect to sell upwards of 9 to 10 million copies of Star Wars Battlefront from its release date through March 2016. Pretty bold forecasting you say? Well, it might have to do with another tidbit of news they released, which will likely further increase the already high number of pre-orders as well as release date purchases.

Up until now, many fans have been griping about how Battlefront was allegedly going to have a small number of battlefields, with EA releasing additional locations via DLC.

Well, it appears that's not entirely true... EA has announced that Battlefront will have no less than 12 multi-player maps at launch. That number does not take into account the additional single player/co-op maps also included in the game. In addition to the usual map formats of it's predecessors, some maps will support the 40 player Walker Assault mode and others have been specifically designed for close quarter combat. Additional maps will be released via DLC.

While EA has yet to list the maps, they have revealed 3 locations: Hoth, Endor, and Sullust (images below).

Star Wars Battlefront releases November 17, 2015 with a free DLC pack available December 1st for all those who pre-order the game and December 8th for everyone else. One of the maps in that DLC will be the Battle of Jakku, seen in the most recent trailer showing the downed Star Destroyer and an airborne Boba Fett.
